State police have identified the Farmington woman killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday in Onondaga County.
Karyn R. Stratton, 55, of Farmington, was pronounced dead after the crash at U.S. Route 20 and Slate Hill Road in the town of Marcellus, police said.
The motorcycle operator, Bruce A. Stratton, 55, also of Farmington, remained hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to an update from New York State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened around 10:10 a.m. June 21. A preliminary investigation found that a 2024 Subaru driven by Morgan L. Heise, 18, of Chaumont, was traveling north on Slate Hill Road and stopped at the intersection with Route 20.
Police said Heise then proceeded into the intersection and failed to yield the right of way to an eastbound 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Bruce Stratton, causing a collision.
Bruce and Karyn Stratton were ejected from the motorcycle and taken to Upstate University Hospital, where Karyn Stratton was later pronounced dead. Heise was not injured.
The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. Troopers were assisted by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Marcellus Police Department, Marcellus Ambulance and Marcellus Fire Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
