The Seneca Falls Town Board has taken several steps toward permanently replacing the deteriorating culvert beneath West Bayard Street, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
At a Sept. 10 special meeting, the board voted 4-0 to approve environmental review actions and a bond resolution for the estimated $7.5 million project.
The town plans to borrow $6.5 million, with a $1 million state grant covering the remaining cost.
The work would install about 330 feet of new concrete culvert beneath public and private property and remove the existing stone structure.
The borrowing remains subject to a permissive referendum if residents submit a petition requesting a townwide vote.
