Multiple fire departments responded Monday to a reported explosion and fire involving a cabin at Fair Haven Beach State Park in Cayuga County.
The incident was reported at a cabin along State Park Road. Initial reports came from the Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire indicated the cabin became fully involved in flames, prompting a response from fire departments in Fair Haven, Red Creek, Hannibal, Victory and Wolcott, along with Fair Haven Ambulance and the Oswego Town Rapid Intervention Team.
One person was reportedly injured and was being evaluated by Fair Haven Ambulance at the scene, according to fire wire. The injury had not been confirmed by an official agency as of Sunday afternoon, and no information was immediately available about its severity or whether the person was transported to a hospital.
Firefighters also reported a propane tank burning near the cabin as crews worked at the scene. It was not immediately clear whether the propane tank was involved in the initial explosion.
Tankers from Hannibal and Red Creek were among the additional resources called to the scene. A Cayuga County fire investigator was also requested.
The cause of the explosion and fire remained under investigation. Additional information from state park officials or emergency agencies was not immediately available.
