Family and friends gathered at Perkins Park in Newark on Sunday to remember 17-year-old Ashton Kepler, who died after a motorcycle crash in Wayne County, according to 13WHAM.
Candles, balloons and keepsakes honoring his interests lined the vigil.
Kepler lost control of his motorcycle and landed in a ditch, and he was pronounced dead at Newark Wayne Community Hospital after first responders tried to save him.
His mother, Carla Kepler, said a picture assembled by a friend’s family captured his love of lacrosse, football and motorcycles.
A graveside service was scheduled for Monday morning at Newark Cemetery.
