A survey of New York cannabis businesses found workers earn an average of $25.87 an hour, about 19% more than workers in comparable jobs, according to the Times Union.
The survey was commissioned by an industry coalition opposing a bill that would create a board to recommend minimum wages for cannabis workers.
More than 40 licensees responded, representing over 1,400 employees.
Fifty-seven percent of respondents reported a net loss in their most recent fiscal year, while 36% said they were profitable.
The coalition has urged Gov. Kathy Hochul to reject the bill or seek changes, arguing that higher labor costs could strain businesses already losing money.
