Syracuse women’s soccer closed its 2025 season with a 4-2 loss to No. 23 North Carolina on Sunday at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Seniors Mia Klammer and Ashley Rauch both recorded points in their final collegiate match as the Orange finished 5-9-4 (1-8-1 ACC).
The Tar Heels (11-6-0, 5-4-0 ACC) struck early behind two goals from Olivia Thomas, who scored in the 16th and 21st minutes to put UNC ahead 2-0. Syracuse responded 10 minutes later when Rauch’s shot off a corner kick deflected off junior Vita Naihin and into the net, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
North Carolina quickly regained control, scoring twice in a three-minute span late in the half. Linda Ullmark made it 3-1 off a feed from Hope Munson, and Kate Fraase added another on a header that deflected off the crossbar for a 4-1 halftime lead.
The Orange kept battling in the second half, and Klammer delivered her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 56th minute, finishing a cross from Rauch to make it 4-2. The goal capped Klammer’s strong senior campaign, matching the highest single-season total by a Syracuse player since 2014.
Goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch made five saves and closed her career as the program’s all-time leader with 380 stops. Defenders Bree Bridges and Jasmine Nixon each went the full 90 minutes for the Orange.
