For the first time in nearly three years, Syracuse football will play a home game in October when it welcomes longtime rival Pittsburgh to the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The matchup, airing on ACC Network, marks the 81st meeting between the two programs, the most against any opponent in Syracuse history. The rivalry dates back to 1916 and has been renewed every year since 1955, with the Panthers holding a 44-33-3 advantage in the all-time series.
The Orange (3-3, 1-2 ACC) returns from a timely bye week at the midpoint of their season, looking to halt a two-game losing streak, the first under head coach Fran Brown.
Pittsburgh (4-2, 2-1 ACC) arrives in central New York riding a two-game win streak, with recent victories over Boston College and Florida State. Quarterback Mason Heintschel has provided a spark under center, throwing for 634 yards and six touchdowns in his last two outings.
