A family is mourning after 38-year-old Jarod Brown from Dundee, an employee of Parmenter Tire in Phelps, died during a roadside assistance call on Route 21 in Canandaigua on Monday, May 13. Brown was dispatched to fix two flat tires on a couple’s motorhome returning from a vacation in Florida.

According to the sheriff’s office, Brown used a hydraulic jack to lift the motorhome and remove the flat tires. However, when he attempted to replace the tires, the jack slipped, causing the vehicle to fall on him. Despite efforts by the fire department using airbags and jaws to lift the motorhome, Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by Ontario County Coroner Terri Haskins.

Sheriff Cirencione described the incident as a “horrible tragedy” with no criminal liability involved. The incident has deeply affected Brown’s family, coworkers, and those who witnessed it.
