A Canandaigua man was charged with criminal contempt after deputies said he picked up a juvenile girl and drove her to Victor despite an active stay-away order of protection.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office said the investigation began with a reported order violation in the city of Canandaigua and led deputies to 968 Kensington Court in the town of Victor early July 25.
Investigators alleged that Luke D. Schaefer, 18, picked up the girl from her Canandaigua home and transported her to Victor.
Deputies said they found Schaefer and the girl at the Kensington Court address around 4:30 a.m. Schaefer was arrested because an active stay-away order was in place, according to the release.
Schaefer was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment. The sheriff's office said he also faces additional charges from the Canandaigua Police Department, but the release did not specify those charges.
The charges are accusations, and Schaefer is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
