A Yates County Jail inmate faces a contraband charge after correction officers found a prohibited item inside his cell, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason L. Siplin was charged with possession of prison contraband following the May 19 discovery at the jail on Main Street in Penn Yan.
The sheriff’s office said correction officers located the contraband in Siplin’s cell at about 4 p.m. The item was later sent to NMS Labs for testing.
Authorities did not identify the substance or object found or provide additional details about the laboratory results.
Siplin was issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
