Yaxel Lendeborg Impresses in California Classic Summer League Debut as Fans Take Notice

Yaxel Lendeborg got off to a good start in his pro debut with the Golden State Warriors in the California Classic Summer League. Warriors rookie forward Gold led the way with 19 points in a 104-72 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Lendeborg was on fire, making all six of his field goals and all four of his three-point attempts. He also proved he is more than just a scorer, rebounder and distributor. His first Summer League game after his long-awaited NBA debut had plenty for Warriors fans to be excited about his future.

Yaxel Lendeborg Has Flawless Shooting Performance

The biggest story of Yaxel Lendeborg’s debut was his shooting efficiency. The Warrior rookie scored 19 points and was 7-for-7 from the field. He was 6-for-6 overall and made all four of his shots from beyond the arc. The performance was even more impressive considering Lendeborg posted those numbers in just 22 minutes of play. People noticed right away how he could score from anywhere on the floor. The young player’s confidence and control in his first Summer League game gave Warriors fans an early look at his offensive potential that was exciting to see.

Rookie Displays More Than Scoring Prowess

Lendeborg’s shooting was impressive, but so was his game. He had five rebounds and six assists, a versatile game that makes him an intriguing NBA prospect. He had good passing skills that created opportunities for his teammates. Rebounding was another good part of his game. The Summer League is more about development, but a good showing overall can help rookies show coaches how they could fit into future rotations. Lendeborg also had four turnovers and said he has some things to work on defensively. Aside from those mistakes, his combo of scoring/passing/size/versatility made for a very encouraging debut.

Warriors hammer Lakers in first game of California Classic

Warriors Gold put in a very good overall performance with a good debut from Lendeborg. Golden State hammered the Lakers 104-72 in a lopsided California Classic game. The Warriors were very efficient offensively and built a big lead in the first half. Lendeborg and Will Richard were instrumental in that early success, combining for 32 first-half points to help Golden State seize control of the contest. The Lakers couldn’t keep up with the Warriors’ shooting efficiency, and they couldn’t climb back after falling way behind. Lendeborg was able to contribute to a comfortable team win in his first Summer League game and made it all the more special.

Fans Have Plenty of Reasons to Watch Lendeborg Closely

Yaxel Lendeborg had some buzz before he entered the Summer League for the first time. After a productive season at Michigan, he was selected 11th overall by Golden State in the 2026 NBA Draft. He won Big Ten Player of the Year and led Michigan to the 2026 national title. He was a great addition for the Warriors with his size, shooting, passing, defence and experience. That was only one Summer League game, the California Classic showing, so it would be premature to draw larger conclusions.
