Residents now have a clearer picture of what happened around sunrise on Thursday, as crews responded to a call for multiple boats on fire in Middelsex.
Several boats were damaged after a fire broke out along Glenn Avenue in Middlesex, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they were called to the scene at about 4:58 a.m. along with Middlesex firefighters for a report of a boat fire.
When deputies arrived, multiple boats were engulfed in flames while sitting in their hoist on the water, according to the release.
Middlesex firefighters brought the fire under control, and the county fire investigation team responded to the scene. Deputies said the boats were not occupied at the time.
The sheriff’s office said Middlesex Fire and Rushville Fire assisted at the scene.
