Ulysses has more time to decide whether to stay in a long-running recreation partnership that gives families discounted access to Ithaca Youth Bureau programs, according to Tompkins Weekly.
The town now has until Dec. 31 to decide whether to leave the partnership, rather than a previously stated June 30 deadline.
The Recreation Partnership has operated for more than 30 years and includes 11 Tompkins County municipalities.
If Ulysses leaves before the end of the year, residents would lose benefits starting Jan. 1, 2028, including a 50% discount on partnership programs and access to income-based financial assistance.
Supporters said the program helps families afford camps, sports, swimming lessons, arts programs and other youth activities.
Town Supervisor Katelin Olson said discussions will continue through the youth commission and local boards, but she does not expect a vote until later in 2026.
