UTV ride honors fallen Hornell Marine

Hundreds of roaring UTVs will roll through Hornell this Memorial Day to honor a fallen Marine and fund student scholarships, according to the Hornell Evening Tribune.

The Zach D. Smith Memorial Ride, organized by Ridin for a Reason, supports the Zachary Smith Scholarship Fund. The event remembers a 2008 Hornell High School graduate killed in Afghanistan in 2010. Riders will travel from Dansville to Hornell, stopping at local veterans’ posts before a police-escorted parade through the city.

Registration costs $26.50, and organizers expect up to 200 vehicles. Proceeds will continue funding scholarships that have already awarded more than $71,000 to local seniors.
