Series of arrests in Canandaigua include multiple DWI charges, felony allegations

A string of arrests over nearly two weeks in Canandaigua included multiple driving while intoxicated cases, warrant arrests, and felony-level charges, according to a recent police report.

Authorities detailed incidents spanning April 4 through April 15, with several individuals accused of impaired driving following traffic stops and complaints across the city.

Among those charged was Kyrstin C. Hettinger, 25, of Farmington, who was stopped April 4 on North Main Street for speeding and later charged with DWI. Similar arrests followed in the days ahead, including Alex J. Hurd, 31, of Canandaigua, Joshua Jolly, 33, of Naples, and Jacob P. Lester, 34, of Canandaigua, all charged with DWI after separate traffic stops tied to violations such as disobeying traffic signals and unsafe driving.

Clark L. Johnson, 33, of Naples, was also charged with DWI on April 15 after police responded to a report of an intoxicated person on South Main Street and determined he had recently operated a vehicle.

In addition to the DWI cases, police reported several other arrests tied to separate incidents.

Douglas Busch, 62, of Canandaigua, was taken into custody April 7 on a warrant after failing to appear in court on prior charges of obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Phillip R. Schmidt, 32, of Canandaigua, was arrested April 13 and charged with second-degree strangulation following a disturbance on Beeman Street, where he is accused of restricting another person’s breathing during an altercation.

Nicole A. Decker, 40, of Rochester, was arrested April 14 following a traffic stop on County Road 28 and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and petit larceny after allegedly being found with drugs and stolen property.

Other arrests included Lane Loyzelle, 44, of Canandaigua, who was charged on a warrant for petit larceny tied to a January theft, and Adrian Santana, 32, of Canandaigua, who was charged with second-degree harassment after allegedly attempting to strike another person during a disturbance.

Police said several individuals were released on appearance tickets to return to City of Canandaigua Court at a later date, while others were transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
