A milestone celebration marking a decade of the Right to Run 5K will bring a full weekend of events, speakers, and community programming to Seneca Falls in May.
Organizers announced the 10th annual Right to Run 5K and Weekend Celebration will take place May 8-9, featuring a mix of fitness, history, arts, and wellness activities tied to the legacy of the women’s rights movement.
The event will be highlighted by a keynote appearance from artist, filmmaker, and author Tiffany Shlain, who will present her traveling installation, “Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring Sculpture,” and speak at the Wesleyan Chapel about its connection to women’s rights history.
The weekend’s signature 5K race is scheduled for 9 a.m. on May 9, with a course through downtown Seneca Falls that incorporates landmarks tied to the 1848 Women’s Rights Convention. Organizers say the event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and will include commemorative shirts, medals, and a post-race vendor village.
Additional programming will include a block party with live music, wellness sessions, author readings and signings, historical walking tours, and a speaker series focused on regional reform history. Local businesses are also expected to participate with special promotions throughout the weekend.
Event organizers say the expanded lineup is designed to draw visitors while honoring the history and continued impact of the women’s rights movement in Seneca Falls.
