Rochester Regional Health announced the retirement of its chief medical officer and a leadership transition set to take effect this week.
Dr. Robert Mayo will retire as chief medical officer and executive vice president on March 31, with Dr. Leslie Wong assuming an expanded leadership role on April 1.
Mayo joined the health system in 2002 and has served as chief medical officer since 2013.
Wong will serve as executive vice president and chief clinical officer, overseeing clinical operations across the organization’s provider network, including graduate medical education and its clinically integrated network.
Mayo and his wife plan to move to Sweden, where they will lead a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Stockholm.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve alongside such dedicated and compassionate colleagues at Rochester Regional Health,” Mayo said.
