Thousands of vulnerable students will get extra support as $8.1 million in federal funding flows to local schools, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Districts in Geneva and Wayne County will share in the money, part of a statewide effort reaching 66 districts and five charter schools. The funding comes through the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act, which targets students facing housing instability.
State leaders say the grants will help remove barriers that disrupt learning, giving homeless students better access to classes and resources. Officials also stress the funding aims to close gaps and keep every student on track despite difficult living situations.
