Two Northeast College of Health Sciences officials have been appointed to prominent leadership positions at the state and national levels in the chiropractic profession.
Dr. Michael P. Zumpano was named chair of the New York State Board for Chiropractic, and Dr. J. Todd Knudsen was re-elected chair of the Council on Chiropractic Education.
Zumpano, a 2006 graduate of Northeast College, serves as professor and director of the college’s Anatomy Center and Anatomical Gift Program. He was appointed to the state board in 2020 and will now oversee board operations, guide communications and ensure compliance with state regulations as chair.
Knudsen, the college’s associate provost of institutional effectiveness and compliance, was elected to a one-year term as chair of the Council on Chiropractic Education in January. The vote followed his completion of an unfilled term as interim chair.

The Council on Chiropractic Education serves as the national accrediting agency for Doctor of Chiropractic programs in the United States. It provides oversight of educational quality and institutional standards for licensing bodies, professional organizations, students and the public.
