A jury convicted a man of murder and kidnapping in the brutal 2023 killing of Ithaca resident Thomas Rath, according to The Ithaca Voice. The verdict makes him the third person found guilty in the case after a months-long investigation and multiple trials.
Jurors acquitted him of first-degree murder but convicted him of second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. Prosecutors said Rath was abducted from a homeless encampment, tortured at a house in Newfield and later shot.
Two other defendants already received 25-years-to-life sentences. The latest defendant faces 15 to 25 years to life and is scheduled for sentencing April 27.
