Syracuse women’s lacrosse secured a 15-7 victory over No. 13 Loyola on Tuesday night at the JMA Wireless Dome, giving head coach Regy Thorpe his first career win while snapping a season-opening three-game losing streak.

The Orange (1-3, 0-2 ACC) controlled the game on both ends, limiting Loyola to just 13 shots and a season-low seven goals while extending their winning streak against the Greyhounds to 12 consecutive meetings dating back to 2015.
Molly Guzik led Syracuse with a career-high three goals and seven draw controls, while Joely Caramelli matched her with three goals. Ashlee Volpe recorded a career-best four assists to pace the offense. Mileena Cotter added two goals during a decisive second-half surge, and Courtney Maclay and Mackenzie Borbi each scored their first collegiate goals.
Syracuse built an early lead with goals from Caramelli and Guzik and carried a 6-4 advantage into halftime following a back-and-forth second quarter. The Orange broke the game open in the third quarter, scoring seven unanswered goals as five different players found the net to extend the lead to 13-4.
Defensively, Izzy Lahah led Syracuse with three caused turnovers as the Orange maintained control throughout the final period despite Loyola ending its scoring drought early in the fourth quarter.
Syracuse returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Louisville for an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup scheduled for a 12 p.m. opening draw.
