Thousands of dollars in stolen goods filled a Lansing home after a months-long burglary spree, according to The Ithaca Voice.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department arrested 36-year-old Jarrod Nickerson and charged him with third-degree burglary. Investigators say security footage showed him inside a storage unit with a cut lock. A search warrant uncovered stolen tools, household items and family heirlooms tied to about 25 break-ins across multiple counties.
Deputies say AI-powered license plate cameras from Flock Safety helped identify a vehicle linked to the crimes. The technology has sparked protests in Ithaca, but Sheriff Derek Osborne said his office writes its own releases and does not coordinate with the company.
