Geneva DMV drop box returning Nov. 17 for plate surrenders and renewals

Starting next week, Geneva-area drivers will have an easier way to handle DMV paperwork — no line, no wait.

The Ontario County Motor Vehicle Bureau is reopening its secure drop box at the Geneva County Office Building on Monday, Nov. 17. The box, located at 83 Seneca Street, will be available for license plate surrenders and vehicle registration renewals.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to make DMV services more accessible,” said County Clerk Jean Chrisman. “We’re excited to reintroduce this service for the convenience of our Geneva-area residents.”

The drop box sits on the front of the building facing Seneca Street and offers a contact-free option for residents looking to complete essential DMV transactions.

How it works

The box will be checked Monday through Friday. Residents are asked to use the provided envelopes and include all necessary documents, along with clearly written contact information, to ensure everything gets processed quickly and accurately.

Anyone with questions about the process — or about required paperwork — can visit the Ontario County DMV website or call the clerk’s office directly at 585-396-4200.
