Waterloo honors standout teacher and staff member

Two longtime Waterloo school employees just got the spotlight for their dedication to students and staff.

The Waterloo Central School District has named Beth Bruni and Andrew Belding as Teacher and Staff Member of the Year for 2024-25, recognizing years of commitment, collaboration, and heart.

Beth Bruni, a 5th grade teacher at LaFayette Intermediate School, has spent 25 years inspiring students through interactive lessons and technology-rich teaching. Her peers describe her as a team leader who brings out the best in those around her.

Outside the classroom, Bruni supports students at afterschool events, forming strong connections that go beyond academics. Her love of dogs and Tina Turner adds to the warm energy she brings to school every day.

Andrew Belding keeps the wheels turning—literally. As the district’s only school bus mechanic, he maintains 25 buses and has earned a near-perfect inspection record over 11 years.

Belding works out of the district’s award-winning transportation office, where coworkers call him a “true team player” known for his dedication and positive attitude.

The district says both honorees were nominated by colleagues who admire their professionalism, kindness, and impact.
