Financial meltdowns aren’t natural disasters — they’re preventable failures, says Stanford economist Anat Admati, who’s headed to Hobart and William Smith Colleges to explain why.
Admati will deliver a public lecture on Sept. 25 as part of the Anderton Economic Policy Symposium. Her talk, “Towards a Better Financial System,” will break down how lax oversight, hidden risks and the myth of “too big to fail” keep banks dangerously under-regulated.
The lecture builds on her acclaimed book The Bankers’ New Clothes and decades of research challenging the status quo. HWS will give free copies of the book to the first 25 students who attend.
