Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports: May 16 scoreboard

Friday featured a lighter slate of Wayne-Finger Lakes high school sports, but there were still plenty of elite performances.

In baseball, Jake Wolff tossed a complete game to lift Waterloo over Mynderse, while Johnny Mohammed fired a shutout in Canandaigua’s win over Pittsford Sutherland. On the softball diamond, Sam Ray led Wayne’s explosive offense with four RBI and four runs in a win over Newark. In boys lacrosse, Sam Underhill exploded for 10 goals and two assists to power Newark past Bishop Kearney, while Chelsea Korzeniewski tallied 12 points to lead Mynderse/Romulus in a blowout win.

Jake Wolff delivered a complete game on the mound for the Tigers, striking out eight while allowing just five hits and two runs. Nathanial Butler led the offense with a 2-for-3 day and three RBI, while six other players each contributed a hit and a run scored. Cullen Herron went 2-for-3 and added a run for the Blue Devils, also striking out five on the mound over 4.1 innings. Alan Plummer and Caleb Mahoney each drove in a run for Mynderse.

The Eagles picked up a strong team win behind a balanced offensive effort and a complete game from Myia Eskinder in the circle. Sam Ray led the charge with four RBI, four runs scored, and a double, while Kaitlyn Scheid reached base four times and scored three runs. Zoe Eaton, Savannah Celso, and Reese Sinclair each added two hits and combined for four RBI. The Reds were paced by Gretchen Crawford’s two triples and two RBI, while Sophia Delfs chipped in with two hits, two runs, and two stolen bases.
