Macedon driver causes crash on I-490; had two previous DWI convictions

State Police say a Macedon man was arrested on felony DWI charges following a two-vehicle crash on I-490 in Rochester in Brighton.

Gregory J. Brown, 32, of Macedon was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation, use of a motor vehicle without an interlock device, and numerous other vehicle and traffic violations.

Troopers responded to the two-car crash on I-490 at Linden Avenue in Brighton; and after arriving on location – determined that Brown had struck another eastbound vehicle.

The force of the collision caused both to hit the median.

While being interviewed, Troopers observed a number of signs suggesting that Brown was under the influence of alcohol. They say he smelled of alcohol, had watery eyes, slurred speech, and was leaning on the median to maintain balance.

He later admitted to consuming alcohol and that he was headed to his home in Macedon. He also admitted that his license had been suspended for two previous DWI convictions.

The passengers in the second vehicle involved were transported to Rochester General Hospital.
