A man was charged with a felony Wednesday after statements raised safety concerns and prompted the temporary closure of the Tompkins County Department of Social Services, according to Ithaca police.
Police identified the man as Richard Madorsky and said law enforcement found him in Schuyler County. He was taken into custody without incident.
Madorsky was charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony. Police did not provide details about the statements in the release.
He was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and sent to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail or bond, police said.
Madorsky is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
