Seneca County Emergency Management will begin distributing N95 masks July 16 at four locations as Canadian wildfire smoke affects air quality.
The masks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Seneca County Fair and sites in Waterloo, Seneca Falls and Ovid. Residents should contact each location for its operating hours.
The county said Canadian wildfires have increased fine particulate matter and prompted an air quality health advisory. Officials advised all residents to limit outdoor activity.
The masks can reduce exposure to particulate matter in wildfire smoke. The county said they are available for residents with chronic illnesses who cannot avoid outdoor activity.
Distribution locations are:
- Seneca County Fair
- Waterloo Library and Historical Society, 31 East Williams Street, Waterloo
- Seneca Falls Community Center, 35 Water Street, Seneca Falls
- Edith B. Ford Memorial Library, 7169 Main Street, Ovid
