An Auburn woman was taken into custody in Liverpool on an outstanding Auburn City Court warrant tied to a welfare fraud investigation, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said Ashley R. Armstead, 32, of Auburn, was stopped by Liverpool police on the morning of June 23 and taken into custody on the warrant.
Armstead was wanted on charges of third-degree welfare fraud, third-degree grand larceny, offering a false instrument for filing, and misuse of food stamps, according to the sheriff’s office.
She was turned over to Cayuga County sheriff’s deputies and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing.
Deputies said Armstead was issued an appearance ticket at the request of the Auburn City Court judge. She is scheduled to appear in Auburn City Court at a later date and time.
