The Yates County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a man wanted on a felony filing charge.
Patrick A. Howell, 40, is wanted for offering a false instrument for filing in the second degree, according to a wanted notice released by the sheriff’s office.
The notice identifies Howell as a white male who is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 275 pounds. Authorities listed his hair color as blond and his eye color as unknown.
The sheriff’s office did not release additional details about the case, including when the alleged offense occurred or what document was involved. Offering a false instrument for filing generally involves knowingly submitting a written instrument containing false information to a public office or public servant.
Deputies are asking anyone who knows Howell’s whereabouts to contact the Yates County Sheriff’s Office at 315-536-4438.

Authorities said members of the public should not attempt to confront or detain a wanted person themselves. Anyone with information should contact law enforcement directly.
