Two inmates at the Seneca County Correctional Facility are facing new charges after deputies said a pocket lighter was found inside the jail.
The Seneca County Sheriff's Office said deputies were notified by corrections staff around 6:50 p.m. Saturday, June 27, that dangerous contraband had been located at the facility.
Investigators said Jon R.G. Bond, 22, of Seneca Falls, and Steven D. Johnson, 50, were identified as suspects in the case. Both were already incarcerated at the Seneca County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies said their investigation found that Bond possessed and distributed a Bic isobutane-fueled pocket lighter to Johnson while inside the facility.
Bond and Johnson were taken into custody around 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, on charges of first-degree promoting prison contraband and fifth-degree conspiracy.
The sheriff's office said both men were processed by Seneca County corrections staff and were awaiting arraignment in CAP Court.
