Bath man held without bail after fentanyl found during parole check

A Bath man was charged with felony drug possession after police said a large quantity of suspected fentanyl was found during a parole compliance check at a hotel.

The Village of Bath Police Department said officers responded at about 2:42 p.m. June 23 to the Finger Lakes Inn at 330 W. Morris St. to assist New York State Parole with a compliance check of a parolee staying at the hotel.

Police said parole officers found a large quantity of suspected fentanyl in the possession of Coty J. Murphy, 34.

Murphy was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.

Police said Murphy was processed and taken to the Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment, where he remained held without bail.

The department said Murphy is a two-time convicted felon in New York and remains under the supervision of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
