A Penn Yan man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated after a one-car crash with injuries in the town of Barrington.
The Yates County Sheriff's Office said first responders were called to Chubb Hollow Road at about 12:30 a.m. June 27 for a crash involving a single vehicle.
Deputies said Patrick J. Meland, 31, of Penn Yan, was traveling north on Chubb Hollow Road when he failed to negotiate a turn, left the roadway and struck a tree.
Investigators said Meland showed multiple signs of intoxication.
Meland was charged with felony DWI, speed not reasonable and prudent, moving from a lane unsafely and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.
He was taken by Penn Yan Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released on tickets to appear in Barrington Town Court at a later date. Dundee Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance and Mercy Flight assisted at the scene.
