Farmington man charged with aggravated DWI in Waterloo

A Farmington man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after Waterloo police said his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.20%.

The Waterloo Police Department said Robert L. Smith, 57, was arrested at about 9:45 p.m. June 27 after a civilian complaint about a vehicle that nearly struck a parked car and ran a red light.

Police said officers located the reported vehicle and observed traffic violations, including an unsafe turn without a signal and failure to keep right.

Smith was stopped and determined to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated per se.

Smith was issued uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court at a later date.
