A leadership battle is already brewing on the Auburn school board, according to reporting by The Citizen. Current board President Jim Van Arsdale and former Vice President Matteo Bartolotta both announced plans to seek the board presidency next month.
Bartolotta resigned as vice president during a May meeting after criticizing how the board handled Superintendent Dr. Misty Slavic’s contract extension vote. Meanwhile, board members Dan Lovell and Jason Horbal announced plans to run for vice president.
The board will elect its leadership during a July 13 reorganization meeting. Members also recognized outgoing board member Dr. Eli Hernández for 15 years of service and welcomed newly elected board member Bruce MacBain.
