A domestic violence investigation in Penn Yan resulted in multiple charges against a village resident, according to police.
Ryan D. Scouten, 50, of Penn Yan, was arrested following a complaint of a physical domestic incident. Police said Scouten struck the victim in the face during the altercation, causing injury.
Investigators also allege Scouten held the victim on the ground and choked the victim, impeding normal breathing. He was charged with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and unlawful imprisonment.
Scouten was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Penn Yan Police Department for processing. He was later transferred to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment.
