Mets land starting pitcher Freddy Peralta in blockbuster trade with Brewers

The New York Mets continued their aggressive offseason Wednesday night, acquiring All-Star right-hander Freddy Peralta and reliever Tobias Myers in a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported.

Milwaukee will receive top prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat, both of whom were named Wednesday to Baseball America’s Top 100 prospects list.

Peralta, who spent his entire eight-year career with the Brewers, is coming off arguably his best season. In 2025, he went 17-6 with a career-low 2.70 ERA over 33 starts, striking out 204 batters in 176.2 innings. He earned his second All-Star selection, led the National League in wins and finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting.

Myers, 27, adds depth to the pitching staff and brings experience as both a starter and reliever. He posted a 3.55 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 50 2/3 innings last season.

The move is the latest in a busy offseason for New York, which recently signed free-agent shortstop Bo Bichette and acquired center fielder Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox.

The New York Yankees were also believed to be in the mix for Peralta, but the Mets ultimately landed the ace.
