Bath man arrested third time since November for violating court order

Police arrested a man after responding to a reported violation of an order of protection in the Village of Bath.

Officers were called to a home on Denwood Terrace around 7:42 p.m. Jan. 9 after a witness reported a man showed up at the residence in violation of a court-issued order of protection. Police said the order was in place to protect another female who lives at the home.

Officers spoke with the witness and the protected party and determined the suspect fled before police arrived because he knew officers were on the way. Police were unable to locate him that evening and later issued an arrest warrant.

Keith McKiever turned himself in at Bath Village Court around 1:07 p.m. Jan. 14, where officers arrested him on the active warrant.

Police charged McKiever with criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor. Court was in session at the time, and he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

Police said this marked the third time McKiever has been arrested since November for violating the same order of protection.
