Police took a man into custody after he turned himself in at Auburn City Court on outstanding felony warrants.
Auburn police said Tyland T. Thompson surrendered at the court on Jan. 14. Officers responded and took him into custody without incident.
Thompson was arrested on a felony arrest warrant issued out of Auburn City Court for criminal contempt. Police said the charge stems from a violation of a full stay-away order of protection. According to the release, Thompson contacted the protected person and members of her family.
Because Thompson has prior domestic violence convictions within the past five years, police said the criminal contempt charge was elevated from a misdemeanor to a felony.
Thompson was also arrested on an indictment warrant issued out of Cayuga County Court. Police charged him with two felony counts of aggravated family offense and two misdemeanor counts of criminal contempt related to a domestic incident.
After his arrest, officers transported Thompson to the Cayuga County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment.
