Ratnik Industries honored as historic New York business

A Victor company known for revolutionizing snowmaking technology just earned a spot in New York’s Historic Business Preservation Registry.

Senator Pam Helming visited Ratnik Industries to mark the occasion, celebrating the family-run business for its six decades of innovation, impact, and global reach in the world of winter sports.

From local slopes to global success

Ratnik Industries began in 1965 when Ron Ratnik purchased the land that would become Bristol Mountain. What started as a local investment quickly became a global enterprise.

Today, Ratnik snowmaking systems are used at more than 600 ski resorts across the world—and have powered nearly every Winter Olympics since 1980.

“Ratnik Industries embodies the spirit of New York ingenuity,” Senator Helming said. “This family-led company has strengthened our regional economy, elevated the Finger Lakes on the world stage, and helped create unforgettable winter experiences for generations.”

A lasting legacy of quality and innovation

The New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry highlights businesses that have made a significant contribution to their communities’ economy and way of life.

Monika Ratnik, who oversees business development, credited the company’s longevity to staying true to its values. “We believe we are still thriving 60 years on by adhering to our core values—integrity, honesty, and quality,” she said.

Assemblywoman Andrea Bailey called Ratnik a “cornerstone of innovation” whose technology has “set industry standards worldwide.”

Victor Town Supervisor Jack Marren noted the registry’s strict eligibility rules, saying Ratnik’s inclusion is “no small accomplishment.”

Dan Fuller, general manager of Bristol Mountain, said Ratnik’s snowmaking systems have transformed ski area operations around the globe.
