Village officials in Newark will hold two public meetings in the coming days to review a proposed zoning change and a request to expand a cell tower.
The Planning Board will meet first, on Monday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting on Monday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the Village Court Room on the second floor of the Newark Municipal Building, 100 East Miller Street.
Zoning change for Grace Avenue
Each meeting will begin with a 6 p.m. workshop to report on Local Law 8 of 2025, which proposes changing the zoning designation of 345 Grace Avenue from R-1 (residential single-family) to R-2 (residential two-family). The change would alter how the property can be developed or used in the future.
Verizon tower extension on Clark Road
Both boards will also review Project #A25-0009, a request by Verizon Wireless to extend an existing 101-foot telecommunications tower at 6110 Clark Road by an additional 18 feet (plus a 4-foot lightning rod). The tower is owned by American Tower and is located in the AG zoning district.
Verizon is seeking a Special Use Permit and Site Plan approval to add antennas and other equipment to the taller structure. The company is represented by attorney Jared C. Lusk.
Public input is typically allowed at these meetings. Agendas and supporting documents are available through the Village of Newark’s Code Enforcement Office.
