A Warners man was charged with felony aggravated criminal contempt after deputies said he entered a Brutus residence where a person protected by a full stay-away order was present.
The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the reported order-of-protection violation at about 8:36 p.m. September 8 and arrested Michael D. Saunders, 42, at about 11:57 p.m. that night.
Deputies were told Saunders had left the scene in a vehicle before they arrived, according to the sheriff's office.
A state trooper later located him driving on Grant Avenue Road, and he was taken into custody.
Investigators said Saunders had been inside the residence with the protected person despite the stay-away order.
Saunders was charged with aggravated criminal contempt, a class D felony, and taken to the Public Safety Building for processing.
At centralized arraignment, bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond, the sheriff's office said.
