In a close 6-5 vote, the Cayuga County Legislature approved the 2024-25 budget for Cayuga Community College (CCC) on Tuesday.
The budget totals $27.7 million and includes a 1.5% increase in the county’s sponsor contribution, raising it by $47,538 to $3.2 million.
The Citizen reports most Democrats supported the budget, while Legislator Jonathan Anna, I-Sterling, and GOP lawmakers opposed it, citing concerns about taxpayer burden. Legislator Mark Strong, R-Moravia, argued that the increased contribution is unfair during a budget deficit year.
