The new base on Route 414 is one of four being built to improve EMS coverage in underserved areas.

Another base in Lyons, which will serve as the headquarters for Wayne County EMS, is set to be completed by August. Work is also progressing on bases in Sodus and Walworth, with all expected to be operational by 2025.

County Administrator Rick House tells the Finger Lakes Times they will enhance the county’s EMS system by strategically stationing EMTs and paramedics with fully equipped ambulances. The total cost for the three new bases is $10.95 million, while the Lyons headquarters is costing $7.5 million.
