Ithaca man arrested after disputes and weapon threats

Ithaca police arrested a 66-year-old man after he threatened a homeowner with a baseball bat and later damaged a car with a wooden stick.


Officers responded to a call on North Aurora Street on June 6th, where Richard M. Johnston reportedly threatened a homeowner with a bat during a dispute. Later that day, Johnston struck a vehicle with a wooden stick on East Seneca Street, causing damage.

Johnston was found riding a bicycle in the Fall Creek neighborhood and was taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief. Johnston was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
