New York State Inspector General Lucy Lang has released the 2023 Annual Report on Gaming Commission Oversight, highlighting efforts to maintain integrity, transparency, and accountability in the state’s gaming industry.

Lang praised her team for their dedication, noting significant strides in training staff to identify and address misconduct. “We have conducted over thirty in-person trainings to ensure a level playing field for all,” she said.

The report reveals a record number of gaming-related complaints in 2023, a 20% increase from the previous year and a 150% increase since 2021. It also details the impact of the legalization of Mobile Sports Wagering (MSW), which generated over $1.5 billion in state tax revenue from January 2022 to December 2023.

Lang emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts, thanking Deputy Inspector General for Gaming Lisa Lee and the OIG team for their contributions.
