Geneva-based Nardozzi Paving and Construction has filed a lawsuit against the City of Geneva, claiming it is owed $2.83 million for work completed on the Routes 5&20 Corridor Reconfiguration and Downtown Streetscape project. The lawsuit accuses the city of breaching its contract, according to company officials.
According to The Finger Lakes Times, the dispute centers around the city’s handling of the project which aimed to enhance pedestrian safety and revitalize downtown Geneva. The work included road-calming measures, modernized traffic systems, and environmental enhancements. However, Nardozzi claims the city failed to manage project timelines and additional work requests effectively, complicating completion.
Nardozzi asserts that unforeseen construction challenges and delayed approvals from the city extended the project timeline, leading to significant extra costs. Despite meeting the revised completion date, the contractor states that the city did not process extension claims, adding financial strain to their operations. The city has yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit.
