Two airlifted from serious crash in Cayuga County: Both LifeNet and Mercy Flight called to scene

Altogether four people were hospitalized after a violent one-car crash in the town of Mentz on Saturday.

It happened around 1 p.m. in the area of State Street Road and Hayden Road.

A car apparently struck a telephone pole, resulting in heavy entrapment. Our partners at the Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire tell us that two people were airlifted to hospitals in Syracuse. While two others, including a child, were transported to Auburn Community Hospital.

Port Byron, Weedsport, Auburn Rescue, Auburn, Saves, Jordan and Throop Ambulance were dispatched to the scene, as well as LifeNet and Mercy Flight.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation late-Saturday.
