State funding boosts revitalization projects in Montour Falls and Waverly

State Senator Tom O’Mara applauded the release of state funding for projects in Montour Falls and Waverly through New York’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) and NY Forward programs. Both villages were awarded $4.5 million each for various projects.

In Montour Falls, six projects were funded, including improvements to Main Street’s walkability and comfort, construction of new townhomes, a dental office with apartments, preservation of the Brick Tavern Museum, a small project fund for local businesses, and upgrades to street lighting on N Catharine Street.

Waverly received funding for nine projects, such as enhancements to Broad Street’s walkability, renovations to East Waverly Park, establishing waterfront access and trails, upgrading Soprano’s Market, creating upper-level housing in a historic building, converting a Victorian home, constructing a multiuse commercial building, improving a fitness center, and a small project fund for local businesses.
